Mayank de Kock's blistering knock guides Lucknow Super Giants to a comprehensive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore
In a high-scoring encounter, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 14 runs in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants rode on a brilliant century by Mayank de Kock to post a mammoth total of 213/4 in their allotted 20 overs. The South African opener notched up an unbeaten 101 off just 52 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and four sixes during his magnificent innings.
In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore fought back valiantly but ultimately fell short of the target, finishing with 199/9 in their 20 overs. Suyash Prabhudessai top-scored for RCB with a well-made 55 off 40 balls, while skipper Faf du Plessis chipped in with a valuable 42 off 28 deliveries.
For Lucknow Super Giants, Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets for just 29 runs in his four overs. Mohsin Khan and Jason Holder also impressed, taking two wickets each.
With this victory, Lucknow Super Giants moved up to second place in the IPL 2023 standings with 10 points from seven games. Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, remained in third place with 8 points from as many matches.
