Joseph Lee Burrow was born December 10, 1996 in Ames, Iowa. He is the son of former NFL player Jimmy Burrow and Robin Burrow. Burrow attended Athens High School in Athens, Ohio, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a standout football player, leading Athens to a 14-1 record and a state championship in 2014.
Burrow was rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and committed to play college football at Ohio State University. However, he transferred to LSU after one season and became the starting quarterback in 2018.
College Career at LSU
In his first season at LSU, Burrow led the Tigers to a 10-3 record and a Fiesta Bowl victory. In his junior season, he had a breakout year, passing for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He also led LSU to a 15-0 record and a College Football Playoff National Championship.
Burrow won the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award in 2019. He was also named the AP Player of the Year and the Sporting News Player of the Year.

Burrow was selected first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft. He started 10 games in his rookie season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He returned to start the 2021 season and led the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988.
